you can hear all of it on our weekly political show, this week in iowa. that airs sunday morning at 9 am. live in the studio, amanda krenz, local five news, we are iowa. stephanie/ram another controversy that's continuing after the caucuses tonight... did ted cruz resort to dirty tricks to win the caucuses? there are allegations that he misled ben carson supporters into thinking carson had dropped out on caucus night, to convince some supporters to move toward his camp. but the fallout has now filtered into iowa politics. carson's iowa co-chair, state representative rob taylor is now demanding an apology from congressman steve king, for tweeting out information that perpetuated this untrue information. today, king, who is a cruz supporter, stopped by our studios to respond. "i don't know why rob taylor feels like he has to insert himself in this... talked to ben carson, told him if i had known... would not have said anything." stephanie:

picked up after a december murder happened place right in front of a court avenue district business. local five's jacob peklo has more from court avenue. jacob peklo, reporting: "some big changes are coming to the court avenue district. an informal committee started meeting last summer and began meeting on a regular basis in the fall. and beginning march 1st, you'll start to see some of those changes come to fruition." dana wingert, des moines police chief: "when we identify the problems down there and you look at the stats, and pour over the cases, there's nothing more frustrating than having an issue that you know that you can't solve by yourself." chris coleman, city council: "this is going to be a great development. we're going to bring more police officers, better lighting and a really state of the art camera system that's going to ensure a higher level of safety on court avenue in the district." jacob peklo, reporting: "these changes are set to be in place for three years to start, but the committee will continue to evaluate its effectiveness throughout. and we'll have much more on the changes coming up tonight at ten. reporting in downtown des moines, jacob peklo, local five news. we are iowa." jack: committee members say the plans have been pushed through

prepare for the n-c-double a tournament. stephanie/ots: firefighters in nevada found a body in a burning home.-- the victim identified as 36 year-old adam blazek. investigators there first said suspicious. but new information today -- after a autopsy, officials believe blazek died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. police say the rest of his family was not home at the time of the fire. jack/1shot and in ottumwa -- new information about what two men are accused of doing to start a deadly fire. the fire from 2006 was considered a cold case until just last month... when the sheriff's department finally arrested christopher yenger of ottumwa, and zachary allen dye, of council bluffs. both are facing two counts of felony murder. and new court documents show the men used gasoline to get the fire going, killing nathan messer and seth anderson, both from ottumwa. they died of smoke inhallation. both suspects have pleaded not guilty. stephanie/2shot coming up on local 5 news at five...

5 news at 5 in hd. we are iowa" stephanie/ram: now to today's big story from new york city... a deadly crane collapse - smashing vehicles and leaving one person dead. abc's rob nelson has the latest from the scene. " this tragedy unfolded at 824 this morning. one person was killed, others were hurt and the big question remains this afternoon: how excactly did this happen? this massive crane was working on 60 hudson street, standing nearly 600 feet in the air and weighing more than 300 tons, and it all came crashing down this morning on worth street in tribeca, crushing cars and swiping at least one building on the way down. residnets and workers said they thought it was a bomb or an earthquake. the

year old man from the upper west side who was sitting inside of a car did not survive and others are being treated in the hospital. ironically, enough, crews were in the process of putting the crane in a secure position becuase of today's high winds and it was during that process when this collapse took place for reasons that are still unclear. the deadly accident impacted local streets, subways and buses and also forced evacations of nearby buildings. con-ed has also shut off power and gas in the area as a precaution and officials had to check the structural integrity of neary buildings. mayor deblasio came to the scene about 10 this morning and admitted this sitution could have been much worse." stephanie time for another quick break... but we will check in with brad at the red dress dash in ankeny....he's got some good news for the weekend. but we will
